The Trip...

Sorry I haven't posted yet... I've either been at church, at a church event, or sleeping because I've felt like crap for the past four days...

The trip went well for the most part. We left Sunday night at 10:00 from Crossroads Church in MD (the church we went with). We stopped for breakfast at CrakerBarell about 8:30, then got to Tenn Temple about 10:00, but check in wasn't until noon, so we went and wandered around the mall for a little while, then went back and checked in and took showers and all that other fun stuff. The other thing that really went on the first day was chapel. Clayton King was the speaker and was pretty much amazing. He presented the gospel from the view point that there is someone out there who wants to kill you (Satan) and someone who can save you (Jesus). That night Natalie Grant gave a concert. Tuesday morning the guys and girls broke up for chapel. One of the ladies from Calling Levi talking to the girls and I'm not sure who talked to the guys. Tuesday afternoon was pretty unorgaized and not much fun - when you have that many kids in one place, you need to have more that just sports going on - not everyone likes playing sports. Tuesday night in chapel, Ergun Caner spoke. He was pretty cool - he's from Turkey and used to be a muslim and is the president of the seminary at Liberty now (but not the type of person you would picture as being the president of a seminary). He talked about finding your calling in life. That night Building 429 gave a concert :) (as far as Christian rock go - they are my favorite) Wednesday we got up and went to Six Flags in Atlanta for the several hours. I'm pretty sure doctors needs to start telling people with kidney stones that if they go on roller coasters there is a good chance their kidney stones will come out - I passed four on Wednesday and peed blood for a while - it wasn't much fun. Wednesday night Johnathan Farwell spoke and Chris Sligh gave a concert. Brent and I don't remember what he talked about - other than he talked about having to speek at his dad's funeral and that God gave him the words to say, that his dad would have wanted all of the credit for the things in his life to go to God not to himself. Chris Sligh was on American Idol. Thursday morning the guys and girls were broken up again for chapel. A lady gave her testimony for the girls and had a huge impact on a couple of ours. Thursday afternoon there were most sports stuff and then some blow up things (bungee run, velcro wall, water slides), so it was a little better than Tuesday. Thursday night Tony Nolan spoke in chapel and talked about not playing games with God, not being one person at church and another person somewhere else. He was great. Then Big Daddy Weave gave a concert. We left half way through the concert to head home and drive through the night again. We got out of Chattenooga about 11:15 and got back to Wilmington about noon on Friday.
The downside of the trip were behavior issues - but I think in the end they all worked them selves out and the kids all learned from their consequences and the coversations that followed the consequenses.
Six of the seven kids we took accepted Christ and all seven of them learned so much!
